Aberdares National Park

Information on Aberdares National Park in Kenya.

1. General Information. The colonialists recognized the Aberdares as fertile grounds for the growth of coffee, tea, wheat and flowers who ultimately had no regard for the local population. As such the infamous Mau Mau leader and freedom fighter Dedan Kimathi had his headquarters in the thick forest of the Aberdare mountain range. The Aberdare National park forms part of the mountain ranges, which peak at a height of 4000m above sea level. The Aberdares are part of Kenya's well-known mountains.

Samburu National Reserve

Information on Samburu National Park in Kenya.

1. General Information. Samburu forms part of a large complex of National Reserve consisting of the former, Buffalo Springs and Shaba game reserves. The Ewaso Nyiro River flows in Samburu national reserve and is the lifeblood of the animals and the reserve. It is also a central feature of the landscape. Lake Manyara National Park

Lake Manyara is a fresh Water Lake in the Rift valley part of Tanzania. This park is generally visited as the first stop of safari, which covers among this park, Ngorongoro and Serengeti. The Great Rift Valley Lakes in Kenya

Mount Kenya National Park & Reserve

Information on Mt Kenya National Park in Kenya.

1. General Information. Mount Kenya national park opened in December 1949, is located about 175kms from Nairobi city. It covering an extensive area of 715 sq kms at an altitude of between 11,000 and 17,058 ft. Mount Kenya, Africa's second highest mountain rises to 5199m. The 3200m mark upwards forms part of the national park. Surrounding the park is Mt Kenya national reserve covering an area of approximately 2095 sq kms. This park is unique for its diverse habitats.

Amboseli National Park

This is a 392 sq. km park with a spectacular background of Africa'shighest peak; Mount Kilimanjaro which broods on the southern end of the park. Animals are easy to spot in this park and you stand the best chance of seeing most big games. Amboseli has a large concentration of elephant and such other game as lion, Buffalo, gazelle, cheetah, wildebeest, hyena, jackal, monkey, Masai giraffe, zebra and baboon. Animals are seen on much of the route to the park, which crosses archer plains where Masai tribes people tend their cattle in an age-old tradition.

Nairobi National Park

1. General Information. Nairobi National Park is located in Nairobi making it the only city in the world to boast a natural game park. The park borders the South Kapiti plains and Kitengela Migration Corridor. The Athi River conveniently forms a natural boundary to the south of the park. The park became Kenya's first national park in 1945. It has an area of 117 sq km. Only a small section of the park is fenced to provide protection to neighboring residents.
